18th/19th Century Rare Naturalistic Japanese pottery dish Signed by artist
This naturalistic hand made dish has been been painted by the artist in a free style unlike much of the pottery produced in Japan at this time for export to Europe. The artist has signed the dish. The collector with 50 years experience from where the dish came believed the dish to be 18th Century, another expert believed it to be early 19th Century. When making the dish the potter applied a clay coil as a base. I believe the last 15mm of the coil to be restored. There is also a 15mm chip on the edge of the dish which has been overglazed. Please see the photos. This is an unusual item. Thank you for looking.
