Being offered is a finely painted antique Japanese 19th century Meiji period Imari porcelain bowl. The overall quality and style seem to be resembling earlier periods (17-18 C), but the underglaze blue is a bit too “cobalty”, typical of the second half of the 19th century. In fact, the underglaze foot mark? Could be attributed, according to the information by Kyushu Ceramics Museum, to the Arita ware Gyokusen kiln?? Founded by Tsuruta Jihe????? And operating during the Meiji period. Good antique condition overall, with a variety. Of small surface scratches, signs of wear, hairline to the glazing and a small chip to the foot rim.
